Editing Cover Design Printing Layout and Design Illustrations Legacy (see Rule 13)

1. The 2009 competition is open to any CIPA Regular or Associate member in good standing who provided support in the listed categories in producing a book whose publisher and/or author is also a CIPA member.

2. A book entered in the 2009 EVVY Award competition but not entered in the Tech Award competition by the author/publisher may be entered in the Tech Award Competition by the qualified technical support provider by completing a Tech Award Entry Form and paying the required entry fee. NO ADDITIONAL BOOKS ARE REQUIRED.

3. A book not entered in the 2009 EVVY Award competition may be entered in the Tech Award Competition by a qualified CIPA member (author, publisher or technical support provider) by submitting a Tech Award Entry Form, paying the required entry fee and submitting three (3) copies of the entered book.

4. All submitted books must have a 2008 or 2009 publication date (except LEGACY entries) and be the original work of the service provider. Books entered in COVER DESIGN must have a front cover, back cover, and printed spine.

5. A book may be submitted for the Tech competition only once. Prior years' entries will be disqualified.

6. A book may be entered in a maximum of three Tech categories only. A separate entry fee (see Rule 12 below) must be paid for each category entered.

7. CIPA reserves the right to add, eliminate or sub-divide categories based on number and types of entries received.

8. Only books attaining a minimum aggregate score of 70 will be eligible for award consideration.

9. All decisions made by the judges and/or CIPA are final.

10. CIPA is not responsible for any entry loss or damage.

11. All books submitted become the property of CIPA and will not be returned. One book will be donated to the CIPA Education and Literacy Foundation's Book Benefit Program.

12. The appropriate entry fee(s) must be paid prior to or simultaneously with entry submission. No entries will be accepted without payment of entry fee as follows:

13. LEGACY category Rules: The publication date restriction stated in Rule 4 is waived for books also entered in the 2009 EVVY Awards LEGACY category. These books may be entered in the Tech Awards pursuant to Rule 2 above by the qualified author, publisher, or technical support provider.

2. If the book is not entered in the 2009 EVVY Awards, send three (3) books to arrive no later than January 17, 2009 to:

3. Bring the required books and covers to the January 17, 2009 CIPA meeting or to any prior CIPA monthly meeting.

4. A FULLY completed Entry Form must be taped to the inside front cover of EACH entered book.

5. Proof of payment of entry fees must accompany each entry.

6. All entries and additional material must be received by January 17, 2009, completed and in proper form.

7. Failure to comply with these requirements or rules may result in disqualification and forfeiture of Entry Fee.

8. If the book has been entered in the 2009 EVVY Awards, no additional copies are required for entry in the Tech Awards.

 

1. Place Awards: First, Second and Third place and Honorable Mention may be awarded in each category subject to: 1) the category receiving at least three (3) entries; 2) each winning entry attaining a minimum aggregate score of 70; and 3) each winning entry receiving the judges' recommendation.

2. All place winners will receive 25 CIPA Tech Award book stickers.

3. Entries earning award consideration will be notified by email in advance of the final presentations at the Awards dinner on March 28, 2009. This courtesy notification is an eligibility confirmation and should not be deemed as a notification of winning.
