Two Paths to New Readers
A two-part event on audiobooks and growing your online presence
Are you trying to reach new readers with your books? Curious about how to create a website that gets results? Have you heard about the “rise of the audiobook” and are you keen to get in on the fastest-growing format in publishing?
On April 22nd, CIPA is proud to present a two-part event. We’ll be talking about the audiobook creation process from production to publication, followed by a presentation on how to increase your online visibility using your website and a bit of SEO magic.
All About Audiobooks
Audiobooks are the fastest growing area of independent publishing, with over $2 billion in audiobook sales last year. Audible listening rose 35% in 2016 as more people listen on their smartphones, through car apps while commuting, and even on new devices such as Amazon’s Echo. This is an audiobook revolution!
Richard Rieman of Audiobook Revolution Productions and Diana & Jamie Andrade of Brook Forest Voices are teaming up to walk us through the ABCs of audiobooks. In their presentation they’ll cover:
- Essential steps to creating and publishing an audiobook
- How to determine if an audiobook is right for your book
- Whether you should hire a narrator or voice your own audiobook
- Strategies to make your audiobook profitable
- What costs and royalties to expect
- How to promote and market your audiobook
Richard Rieman of Audiobook Revolution Productions is the author of the award-winning “The Author’s Guide to Audiobook Creation” and a top Audible narrator. He also produces audiobooks for authors voicing their own audiobooks and consults with authors seeking a narrator. Richard writes about audiobooks in the CIPA and Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers blogs.

Author Websites that Get Results
Authors need to break through a lot of noise online, and yet digital media remains one of the best ways for indie publishers to make a name for themselves. Crafting your own platform and getting people to it takes good website design and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). In fact, website design and SEO go together like cake and icing. You can have the cake without icing, but the icing is really what draws people in. SEO complements good web design by attracting traffic to your website and encouraging them to do something, like subscribe to your newsletter or buy your book.
Veronica Yager of YellowStudios and Zoe DeVito of LetsGrow.Solutions have teamed up to share what SEO really is, what it can do and how to design a website that gets results. In their presentation they’ll cover:
- How to develop a website that sells for you
- What SEO is and why your website needs it
- The Essential 3 Vs for Victorious SEO
- Whether you should hire a website designer or DYI it
- What your author website needs and why
Zoe DeVito is a Google-certified internet marketer who specializes in search engine optimization (SEO). As a millennial, she takes pride in exploiting the web. LetsGrow.Solutions partners with small businesses in Denver and Boulder to build their online presence, drive targeted traffic to their websites and reach their unique business goals.
Veronica Yager has been working with self-publishing authors since 2008. Her mission is to help make publishing a book as painless and easy as possible for authors. Veronica and her team design award winning books & ebooks, and create beautiful websites, which most self-publishing authors neglect and forget about! YellowStudios offers a free consultation jam packed with advice and will give you a solid direction to help ease the frustration many new authors face. In 2016 Veronica won a CIPA EVVY Award for Interior Book Design and Layout, and received a Gold Medal – 1st Place Award for eBook design and conversions.
