CIPA Signature is a monthly newsletter mailed to CIPA members, affiliate publishing associations, and others who request a copy. It provides details on upcoming meetings, news on the association and affiliated organizations, and information from the Board of Directors.  

The newsletter also features members articles, both from independent publishers sharing their publishing experiences and from associate members telling what they know about the business. Monthly columns round out the newsletter with specific tips on production, research, publicity and public relations, and marketing. 

If you are a CIPA member and would like to contribute an article, here are the guidelines. Note that the articles also will appear on this website. 

  1. The deadline for submission is the 10th day of the month prior to the month of  publication.

  2. Columns should be no more than 500 words; features no more than 750; book reviews around 300. Feature articles require a photograph of the author.

  3. News about upcoming publishing events and other items of interest to independent publishers from participating book associations also are accepted. Please note that these must be brief items with contact information. Sales pitches are more properly submitted as paid ads.

  4. A special section of the newsletter, Applause Applause!, features news about YOU, your new book, your book-signing details, etc.  The maximum number of words is 150.

  5. Email your submission to the contact below, and include your name, publishing company, and details about availability of a photo or graphics. If you are submitting a feature article, include the reason why you think your article would be of benefit to CIPA members.

CIPA Signature is published September, October, November, January, February, March, April, May, and Summer. Receiving the newsletter is one of the many benefits of membership in the Colorado Independent Publishers Association.
