The 2010 competition is open to any current member in good standing of CIPA, Arizona BPA or New Mexico BA and who provided support in the listed categories in producing a book whose publisher and/or author is also a member of any of these organizations.
A book may be entered in the Tech Award Competition by any qualified person (author, publisher or technical support provider) by submitting the required number of books, completing a Tech Award Entry Form for each book, and paying the required entry fee. (Rule 12)
Required number of books for each entered title:
Editing: 3 All other categories: 1 for each category entered
All submitted books must have a 2009 or 2010 publication date (except LEGACY entries) and be the original work of the service provider. Books entered in COVER DESIGN must have a front cover, back cover and printed spine.
A book may be submitted for the Tech competition only once. Prior years’ entries will be disqualified.
A book may be entered in a maximum of three Tech categories only. A separate entry fee (see Rule 12) must be paid for each category entered.
CIPA reserves the right to add, eliminate or sub-divide categories based on number and types of entries received.
Only books attaining a minimum aggregate score of 70 will be eligible for award consideration.
All decisions made by the judges and/or CIPA are final.
CIPA is not responsible for any entry loss or damage.
All books submitted become the property of CIPA and will not be returned. They will be donated to the CIPA Education and Literacy Foundation’s Book Benefit Program.
The appropriate entry fee must be paid prior to or simultaneously with entry submission. No entries will be accepted without payment of entry fee as follows:
LEGACY category Rules: (1) The publication date restriction stated in Rule 4 is waived; (2) entry limited to one title per SERVICE PROVIDER; (3) entry limited to a maximum of three judging categories; (4) EDITING category is NOT available; (5) See Rule 3 and Rule 12 for number of books and fees; (6) LEGACY entries will be judged separately and may not be entered in other categories.

First, Second and Third place and Honorable Mention may be awarded in each category, subject to the category receiving at least three (3) entries; the winning entries attaining a minimum aggregate score of 70; and the winning entries receiving the judges’ recommendation.
Entries earning award consideration will be notified by email in advance of the final presentations at the Awards dinner on March 27, 2010. This courtesy notification is an eligibility confirmation and should not be deemed as a notification of winning.
