January 2020 President’s Letter
By Robert Schram
Focusing the Power of Your Intentions!
“To truly know the world, look deeply within your own being;
to truly know yourself, take real interest in the world.”
Now that the holidays are quickly becoming a distant glimmer, we can focus the power of our intentions on ushering in the coming year. What are some of your resolves for 2020? At CIPA we will continue to serve as a premier publishing resource, affording our members and guests educational opportunities through our monthly programs and workshops. We strive to remain current and relevant in the ever-changing world of becoming independently published. “Do it yourself without doing it alone!”
January 18 Meeting: Please note new 9:00 start time!
Please join us for the fourth leg of our publishing journey with “What Booksellers Want” An Insider’s View on How to Sell to Bookstores and other Distribution Outlets with guest speaker Eric Boss. Drawing upon his distinguished and varied career in the book trade since 1971, Eric is eager to share his wealth of experience with CIPA members and guests. (find out more and register here).
CIPA EVVY Awards 2020
CIPA EVVY Coordinator Sue Ager and CIPA EVVY Chair Doris Baker have been busy fine-tuning our awards program for 2020. We are fortunate to have the depth of their experience at the helm to acknowledge the fruits of our labor and to celebrate our publishing achievements. Hear from them in person at our first meeting. There are any number of ways you can become involved. (see the CIPA website for complete details)
CIPA Founder Joe Sabah (May 31, 1931–November 24, 2019)
Joe was a CIPA legend and he made a lifelong impact on and encouraged many independently published authors. In addition to being a founder of CIPA, Joe and his wife, Judy Pfeifer Sabah, also founded NSA Colorado. In Judy’s own words “The best way you can honor Joe is to ‘Sing the Song You Came to Sing’ as loudly and clearly as you can. Make the world a better place with your message and purpose. (see the YouTube Channel for Joe’s videos here)
