Updates and Changes for the CIPA 2020-2021 Year!
My name is Jim Ringel, and I am your new CIPA Board President. Wish me luck.
The board and I just finished our CIPA Board Forward meeting, and I think we have come up with some interesting new changes for the 2020-21 CIPA year.
They look something like this.
CIPA’s New Website
We have just signed a contract with Tree Ring Digital to completely redesign and reboot the CIPA website. Our Website Chair Veronica Yager has been actively working with board members and Tree Ring to design and plan the new site. Our goal is to give you a website that is easier to navigate, and that will offer more benefits to our members. These benefits include opportunities for general members to promote their successes and for service provider members to showcase their offerings. Watch for our new site. If all goes well, we hope to launch it at the beginning of 2021.
Summer Webinar Series
On July 18 Marketing Chair Caitlin Berve presented our first Summer Webinar class. The topic was Email Marketing. Thirty-three enrollees were treated to a chock-full ninety minutes of tricks and tips for increasing outreach using social media. The program was such a success with such appeal, we are encouraging Caitlin and other CIPA board members to offer a second class before summer ends.
CIPA EVVY Awards
Hats off and kudos to Sue Ager who has been doing a fantastic job as this year’s EVVY coordinator. COVID-19 threw a real monkey wrench into our EVVY plans, but Sue has truly risen to the occasion. CIPA received 315 entrants in 46 categories. And 85 of those entrants joined as new CIPA members. Welcome aboard.
EVVY Awards Ceremony
In the days before COVID-19, CIPA liked to celebrate all nominees with drinks and nosh at some local area venue. This year we will virtually celebrate our honorees, and this celebration takes place in two stages. On August 10 our CIPABooks.com website will announce all finalists for this year’s EVVYs. Finalists will also be notified by email. Watch cipabooks.com and hoist a private glass to acknowledge our deserving authors and service providers.
The second stage will be a live YouTube presentation on September 10 at 6pm (MDT) where we will announce the winners in each category. Tune into the CIPA YouTube channel to join with CIPA board members Doris Baker, Mike Daniels, Jim Ringel, and Bob Schram in celebrating this year’s 1st place winners, complete with a slide show of the winners and their books. And although it’s a live event, the YouTube posting will stay active long after the celebration for all to share with friends, family, and fans.
CIPA Speakers Bureau
CIPA is looking to put together a Speakers Bureau of board members, general members, and service providers to offer a series of talks about writing and publishing. Our goal is to offer the program to other organizations like ours.
As you know, the CIPA motto is Do It on Your Own but Not by Yourself. The purpose of the Speakers Bureau is to present topics that will help writers hone their craft and find solutions for self-publishing their works. The Speakers Bureau is a work in progress, and we appreciate any ideas you can offer to help make the Speakers Bureau a success.
Virtual Meetings through the end of 2020
Our virtual meetings in March, April, and May were a huge success where CIPA saw increased member participation. Plus, the meetings received many compliments from those who participate. Looking down the uncertain road we are on, the board has decided to continue with virtual meetings through the end of 2020. We expect to have a slate of meeting topics to share by August.
Thank you for being a part of CIPA and for sticking with us through these difficult times. We on the board are committed to making your CIPA membership all that it can be, and we ask that you help us do that. Please, please, please let us know your thoughts and suggestions for how we can help you succeed. Let’s open up communications. We want to hear from you.
Truly, we want to hear from you.
We are here to help. Let us know how.
