MARCH 2018 CIPA PRESIDENT’S LETTER

By: Alexandra O’Connell

We hope you’ve enjoyed a festive St. Patty’s Day! Welcome back to CIPA for a great meeting with literary agents Sandra Bond and Kristin Nelson, to talk about shopping your indie-published book to traditional publishers. What do literary agents look for, and how can you best set up your book for success? Register today!

CIPA EVVY Awards
The 24th Annual CIPA EVVY Book Awards are in full swing. The Early Bird deadline has now passed, but you can still enter your book under Regular Pricing through May 9th. After that, Late Pricing takes effect until May 19th when entries close. Be sure to get your entries in today!

If you are interested in being part of the CIPA EVVY team, email our Coordinator Jina Uvalle. Volunteers are the heart of everything we do.

Colorado Book Festival
CIPA was a proud partner of the 2018 Colorado Book Festival on March 3. The free, jam-packed event was held at the Denver Central Library and featured a full day of literary activities for book lovers and readers and writers of all genres. Offerings included writer-led panels about reading, current issues, and audience questions. There were also programs about the writing process and presentations by well-known authors. Best of all, more than 100 local authors had a great opportunity to showcase themselves and their books to a large crowd of readers. We are thrilled to have been part of this event and look forward to great things in 2019.

CIPA Board
It’s never too early to start thinking about who you’d like to represent you on the CIPA Board next year. Send us your recommendations or your interest any time before our May vote! All members play an active role in the leadership and future of our organization—maybe one of these members is you?

Thank you for being a part of CIPA! As you slide down the banisters of life, may the splinters never point the wrong way.

Your part-Irish President,

Alexandra O’Connell
