Field of Opportunity

In the wake of a bountiful harvest, like this year’s EVVY Awards, new opportunities and new ideas begin to percolate to the surface. CIPA is poised to help you cultivate those new ideas and help you bring them to fruition!

Welcome to our 27th year as the Colorado Independent Publishers Association. I am honored and excited to assume the role of CIPA President for a second term in 2019–20. Looking forward to yet another bountiful year together!

The 25th annual CIPA EVVY Awards Banquet is already behind us. What a grand celebration of all of the publishing achievements of our community over the past year (see photos of this year’s event here). I trust many of you have taken advantage of the opportunity to showcase your book at the MPIBA FallCon.

Our Board has been busy putting together new and exciting programs like our season opener, Independent Publishing Beginner to Best-Seller: What’s Next for You?, with our own Dr. Ingrid Pyka slated for our first meeting. We also endeavor to continue to develop an increasingly effective marketing program and are always seeking feedback from our membership as to how we as an organization can continue to grow, improve, and better serve your needs.

MPIBA

Save the dates of The Mountains and Plains Independent Booksellers Association FallCon October 10-11, 2019. Limited slots remain available and registration ends soon to include your book at the CIPA table. A wonderful chance to showcase your book in front of hundreds of booksellers, publishers, distributors, book lovers, and the book industry at large. CIPA Author Showcase members will participate and gain admission to the show and have a presence at one of the largest regional book shows in the country (click here for details).

Volunteers

Collaboration within our community is key to enhancing CIPA’s value to all of its members. Continue letting us know what you are interested in, what suggestions you may have, what ways you can contribute. Areas to become involved include:

  • programming
  • marketing
  • membership and outreach
  • website and social media
  • audio and video production
  • CIPA EVVYs
  • CIPA ELF (Education and Literacy Foundation)

You can email me at president@cipabooks.com or speak to me directly or to any of our Board members at one of our monthly meetings.

Hope to see you at our opening meeting of the 2019–20 season this Saturday!

Sincerely,

Bob Schram
